60. That’s the percentage of Howard County youth
who say they have been bullied.

In a recent survey, more than half said that they had been bullied in the past 30 days alone. With rates this high, residents have come together to stand up to bullying and reduce incidents that occur in-person and online.

Led by the Howard County Local Children’s Board, we launched StandUp HoCo – a campaign to educate the community about what bullying is and how to prevent it. Understanding that parents and school staff cannot be expected to tackle this issue alone, we recruited more than a dozen community partners to be part of this initiative. Our hope is to give adults and kids the tools they need to respond to bullying and learn how to prevent it in the future. Our motto is: Don’t stand by, stand up.
